Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while Courtney Euerle (Litchfield, Minn.) was named to the MIAC All-Defensive Team.
And the trio kicked off the 2012-13 earning most individual honors, as the trio were named to the North Central (Ill.) Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament team, after leading the Cardinals to a perfect 2-0 performance.
Led by Stefely, Thone and Euerle, the Cardinals opened the season with a 67-36 win over Alma (Mich.) on Friday, the completed the perfect run through the North Central (Ill.) Tournament with a 69-49 victory over Olivet.
Stefely averaged a team-best 15.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg in SMU's two tournament games — including a game-high 21-point, 11-rebound effort against Olivet on Saturday — and was named the tournament's MVP. Stefely's 21-point performance vs. the Comets marked the fourth time in her collegiate career that she has eclipsed the 20-point mark — and was just four points shy of her collegiate-best 25-point showing against Macalester on Jan. 7, 2012. The 21-point, 11-rebound double-double was also the 12th of her collegiate career.
Thone chipped in an 11.0 ppg scoring average, while dishing out a team-best eight assists — including a career-high six against Olivet on Saturday. Thone kicked off the season scoring a team-leading 10 points against Alma, and followed up with 12 points and six assists vs. Olivet.
Euerle, meanwhile, finished the two-day tournament averaging 8.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg. She scored four points and hauled in eight rebounds against Alma and tossed in 12 points and recorded a second straight eight-rebound effort the following day against Olivet.
The Cardinals, off to a 2-0 start for the second time in the last three seasons, are now off until Nov. 28, when they kick off MIAC play with a 5:30 p.m. contest against St. Olaf at the SMU Gym.
